King's Addition Missionary Baptist Church

Well the Conference was a good one. Of course, I always think that. Got everything recorded for your listening pleasure, and promptly turned them into MP3s. Then I forgot to post them. For about three weeks.

Didn't even remember until Bro. Jimmy asked about them. They're uploading right now and as soon as they are, I'll post links to them. I also took the opportunity to fix the old conference sermons so they'll sort easier. Now if you use something like Windows Media Player, Winamp, or Amarok to listen to sermons and music they won't all just glom up in to a big lump. The covers also look a lot different so you can tell the different years apart just by glancing at them.

Well, the last few months have not been particularly kind to our website. It had not been updated in so long it's just silly. Just for the record, if anyone is considering using "Powweb" to host their website, don't. When our site first started, they were a really good company with great service. I don't know why, but they seemed to delight in breaking stuff the last six months the site was there.

The last straw was when they dropped a really destructive update, without letting me know. This essentially destroyed the site. It would still work, but I couldn't add anything to it. I also couldn't get most of the stuff that was on there. I still have most all of it, at least in it's pre-website form, but that's a lot of cutting and pasting to do because of someone else's mistakes.

In any event we have a new web host, and well so far so good. Lord willing we'll be OK for a while. While I was going to have to put everything back the hard way, I figured it would be a good time to upgrade the program the site runs on. It's called Joomla and it really is an outstanding content manager, and for free software it's downright user friendly.

Really, if you think about all the sillyness that we've had with the PA system at church, what with it eating microphones and all, I really think the Devil doesn't want this web site here. It's as if most everything that could happen to get rid of this site, or the preaching at least, has gone wrong in recent months. I guess that means we're doing something right.

Anyway, I think that's it for my excuse/sermon. I'll see if I can get Pastor Hobbs to put something proper on this welcome page.
